The General Directorate of Traffic has activated the CCTV cameras to monitor and record motorists using their mobile phones while driving.
In an interview with a Qatar Radio programme, Col Dr Mohamed Radi al-Hajiri, director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, pointed out that “using mobile phones while driving is a risky and grave practice,”
“Some people get addicted to the use of mobile phones for not only making and receiving calls but also other communication purposes while driving. Recently, a lady driving with her children was issued a traffic violation as she was busy talking on the phone,” he recalled.
Col al-Hajiri confirms strict action against such violations has been launched.
